David Cook is the 7th American Idol

Fantastic! As we’ve all wanted David Cook won the 7^th season of American Idol. It was a breathtaking finale with David Archuleta giving it his all. AS Simon Cowell said, Archuleta’s performance was one knockout of a performance. The problem is, although he truly did well in the finale, America will judge on an over-all basis – meaning they will judge from the very start and unfortunately, Cook has had a following from the beginning (and that includes me).

Worst ways to be dumped

As I was listening to my husband relating to me the break-up between Bob and his girlfriend; I began thinking what for me were the worst ways to be left behind.

He just disappears. This I think is one of those things that just keep you hanging. It becomes extremely difficult to move on when no closure has happened via some form of explanation why. Fear Kicks in and makes people insecure not knowing if there’s something worng with them.
He has a relationship with another woman. That hurts because cheating and lying are involved.
Through a friend. Can you believe hearing the bad news from the friend. This is just a piss off as it shows how cowardice the person is. It is also awkward for you as you feel that the whole world knows why you broke up.

Well Bob wants my husband to do #3. What an ass!

Why not David Archuleta?

The heat is on as American Idol is coming to its end. After so many contestants vying for the title and after so much hard work and voting, American idol has come up with two talents, both named David – David Archuleta and David Cook. I don’t think David Archuleta should win American Idol. Here are the reasons why…

He’s young. Now this is supposedly a plus factor for Archuleta and has been a constant mention by Paula Abdul. Most claim that it is admirable that a boy as young as he is could take the pressure of being in a competition like American Idol. The thing is he’s was raised in this kind of environment. He has been competing since he was a child and has actually won in star search, so being in American Idol is just like a normal day for him. Thus his age should not be a factor in choosing the winner.
His voice. Archuleta without a doubt has a fantastic voice. But a lot of singers have a fantastic voice. So far the songs he has sung have been beautifully rendered but nothing out of the ordinary. What can he offer against other balladeers in the industry? How can he stand out from other singers?

Cook on the other hand has come a long way. He has been a struggling singer who had to bartend to make ends meet. He has a lot to offer. His voice has a lot of character and the manner he sings is unique so much so that he can revamp an old song and make it sound new and original. He has the maturity to survive in the industry as well as the talent, the look and the appeal to back it up. The American Idol has to be David Cook.

Who’s your favorite third place Idol?

We’ve been watching American idol for so long now and currently we are on our last season. We’re finally at the last two, which is what everybody predicted from the very beginning – a fight between David Cook (my favorite) and David Archuleta. However, let us think about the past third place Idol winners. Who amongst them do you like the most?

First Season: Nikki McKibbin. Remember her, she was an obvious rocker and she was actually the first in the show to have a consistent rock repertoire. As to this being an advantage to her or not, well she didn’t reach the finals. But do you like her?

Second Season: Kimberly Locke. Simon Cowell constantly criticized her lack of personality, but hey, she reached the final 3.

Third Season: Jasmine Trias. She got tremendous support from the people in California, New York and her hometown Hawaii. Because of her Filipino origin, she also had the vote of the Filipino community. She’s currently one of the more successful winners of idol.

Fourth Season: Vonzell Solomon. This was her second audition for the show. She initially auditioned for the second season but was cut off.

Fifth Season: Elliot Yamin. Both Stevie Wonder and Simon Cowell saw the potential in Yamin the former stating that he was "potentially the best male vocalist" in the five seasons of Idol. Sure enough, after Idol Yamin reached the Billboard Top 200 with his song Wait for You.

Sixth Season: Melinda Doolittle. It was a surprise that she didn’t make it to the finals.

Seventh Season: Syesha Mercado. Finally, the newest addition to our list of third place winners but how could he possibly compete with the two David’s that are now in the finals.

I love Elliot Yamin. Who’s your choice?

5 Makeup myths cleared

More likely we have all seen someone who needed a little help with their makeup skills and maybe a few whose makeup made them a little bit scary. I am once guilty of that but I have improved and just want to share a few tips I've learned myself and a few my girl friends shared.

1. When it comes to blush, more is better.

False: Too much blush is bad. The key is making it look very natural rather than you having people think your cheeks are doubling as stoplights. Choose a blush that has a peachy pink shade. This hue will look great on anyone and will natural on your cheeks.

2. Use a foundation that is one shade lighter or darker than your skin tone.

True: Women sometimes choose a foundation that is the wrong color for their skin. The key is making sure you find a color that matches the rest of your skin tone. Pick a color that seems to disappear into your skin. This will ensure that you look natural instead of like you painted your face.

3. It's perfectly ok to use a dark lipliner.

False: Unless you want to appear as if you were just sipping hot chocolate, you should stay away from lipliners that are too dark. It sticks out and leaves a ring around your lips unless you wear an equally dark lipstick. Choose a lighter color.

4. Always blend the eyeliner and eye shadow.

True: One thing you want to avoid when putting on makeup is the appearance of lines. You don't want to look like you drew or painted your face again, right? One way to do it right is to blend, blend and blend. Make sure you blend your foundation down your neck so you do not have lines around your face.

5. Don't sleep with your makeup still on.

True: Another makeup mistake to avoid is going to sleep with the whole thing still on. Make sure that you wash it off. If you leave your makeup on all night, not only will it get on your sheets, but will also clog your pore which can lead to breakouts.

Even though preggers and all, I still make it a point to put a little blush and a lip gloss once in a while but as I see myself in the mirror,I tend to look more in my growing belly and become amaze at the life inside it and when I see m face, it seems I'm emanating a different glow, a glow that even my most-can't live makeup accessory can't give.

Mamma Mia!!!

I can’t wait to see this movie. I know that this is based on a musical but I didn’t see the musical and would love to see the movie. I LOVE ABBA!!! Yes, it may sound a bit gay but I grew up on ABBA and I have to say a lot of my childhood memories have ABBA songs associated with it. My parents discoed with ABBA and my mom used to talk about those days. I even remember her swinging and singing to ABBA while she cooked. Even up to this day Dad just has that sweet nostalgic smile every time he hears ABBA. Can’t wait…

Do you know what you're eating?

I was reading David Zinczenko and Matt Goulding article and I wasn’t all that surprised about what they discovered – that most of the food we eat in restaurant chains are unhealthy.

On the top of their list is Outback Restaurant giving us 2,900 calories for its cheese fires. But then most business establishments have no responsibility whatsoever for the health of their customers. They want their money that’s it. Of course, they make their food really taste good, at whatever cost and on whoever’s expense – in this case, the cost is unhealthiness and the expense is at the customer’s health.

It’s more practical to just cook at home. It’s much cheaper, much tastier and definitely much healthier. We have full control of what we eat. I know that most of us are working and we neither have the time nor the energy to cook our own meals.

This is what I used to do when I was working. I choose 2 days to cook within the week then I freeze whatever it is that I cook so I’ll just have to re-heat on other days. Just sharing, especially with the amount of unhealthy but convenient food out there….

Doubting Motherhood? Listen to Phil Collins...

I know this most probably is the result of hormonal change but, what the hey… I’m going to share it anyway…

I was surfing through the channels and I saw Phil Collins singing in the Disney channel. I love Phil Collins so I let it stay on the Disney Channel…

He was singing You’ll be in my Heart…with the video of Tarzan as a small boy and the Gorilla mother… have you seen that? Well all of a sudden I started crying…

Disney’s for children but somehow they have songs that just hit straight to your heart…anyway…

I’ve been having the normal apprehensions about motherhood. I mean, this is the first time I’m going to be a mother and I kept thinking. I’m all screwed up how in God’s name am I suppose to try and guide the life of another…then I heard this song, one of the best of Disney’s in my opinion.

I suppose this song answers a lot of my doubts…
